Our head Preschool Mentor, Pam Koons, lives in the Pacific NW. Originally from California, she transplanted to Washington in 1984 and never looked back. Armed with collegiate degrees in Early Childhood Education and Business Mgt, Pam started and directed a private Preschool/Kindergarten, (NW Children's School), which quickly grew from 4 to 120 children within the first two years! Pam soon found herself very busy crossing over from the teaching side to the business side of Preschool education, becoming a school principal, education director, business administrator, staff and parent mentor, public relations spokesperson and of course, chief bottle washer! It was a proud tribute that her Preschool was honored with awards for the best private school in the county.
Pam quickly became President of the local Chamber of Commerce and served on their board for over 15 years. Last counted, Pam's Preschool had positively affected over 10,000 Preschool children and their families in the past 25 years.
A local newspaper reporter once wrote: "When Pam was growing up, her parents always told her she could do anything she wanted to do and she could do it very well." That motto seemed to stick as she journeyed through life becoming very involved with local school districts, state Preschool associations, various parenting and volunteer organizations. While very proud of her Preschool and its many successes, Pam sold her school in 2005 to concentrate on helping others to realize their dreams of owning and running successful Preschool businesses.
Pam also volunteers for the site, AllExperts.com, and has been interviewed by PreschoolRock.com for Ask the Preschool Teacher.
